things to do in orange beach al
what's up everybody, welcome back to my laboratory where safety is number one priority. and for today's video, i'm going to make a little compilation of ziploc life hacks, let's check this out! for this life hack, i'm going to show you how to make home-made ice pack that is re-usable, you can use it many many times. first, what're going to need is water and measuring cup. and we're going to add..
things to do in orange beach al , so that's one cup and one and a half cups of water. ...and then we're going to need rubbing alcohol, and 91 percent. we're just going to add half a cup of rubbing alcohol.
put it in a ziploc bag. now then you want to lay it and close it when there is almost no air bubbles in there. and of course you want to mix it all up, just like this. boom! and as you can see, ziploc is really good. nothing is coming out from it. now we're just going to put it in the freezer and come back to it. and then couple of hours later, look, we got slush.
if i keep it a little bit longer, we'll have even more slushy. it takes a while to freeze up, but wow look at this. look at all that slush. you see it? that's what we want. this is why we put alcohol in it. so it doesn't freeze as a brick. it freezes as a slush. that's why you can put it over your hand or whatever hurts.
you see it can wrap around the whole hand. this is awesome. this is one of the best lifehacks out there. now you can stick it back in the refrigerator and use it again later. it will be perfect slush ready to go icepack. i usually on cook half a pack of bacon and the rest i put in ziplock bags. so it lasts longer. but the problem is, look, you see how much air inside of it? its still a lot so, today we're gonna vacuum seal it.
with a ziplock back, and without a vacuum sealer. all we need is water. so what we're going to do is just put it inside of the water, and submerge it. not all the way to the end. right where the mouth is, and then we're going to close it. boom. now it's vacuumed air tight inside of it.
and it will last a lot longer. very cheap and simple vacuum sealer. just use a big bowl and water. if you don't want to use water and bowl, or you cannot find any bowl, just use a straw. put it in the corner like that. make sure the straw is clean. you don't want to contaminate your food. then we close it all the way like this.
and what we're gonna do is suck it. and boom! vacuum sealed ziploc bag. look, there is no bubble of air at all. this is awesome. look at that. so now my bacon will last much much longer, because it's vacuum sealed. and, it's a cheap way to vacuum seal your ziploc bags. [swoosh!] you have a hole over here. you use a little bit of sugar,
or whatever you have in the bag. but, how do you re-seal this hole? and, it doesn't have a ziploc bag. well, we're gonna make our own ziploc bag out of a plastic bottle. what we're going to do is just cut off the bottle like this. actually, the best way is open the bag all the way like this. so then we're gonna grab the bag like this. twist it up.
put it through the hole. simple, huh? and twist it. and then we're going to open it like this. and put the cap of the bottle over the bag like this. there you go. once it's screwed on, you see the plastic bottle and the cap holding the bag. nothing can come out. awesome. this is a really simple and cheap way
to reuse a simple bag and make it into the ziplock bag. pretty much, 'cause it's closed just like a ziploc bag. and that way you're actually recycling the plastic bottle and not wasting a bunch of ziplock bags. for this life hack, you know they sell these icepacks for your cooler. sometimes they're like this. sometimes they're a little square, and they're blue. you know what i'm talking about. you throw this in the refrigerator.
they freeze it. and then you put it in the cooler. so that way you don't have to use ice. because when ice melts and all your food gets soaked. especially when you go camping. or you want to bring food to the party, or whatever. so, the other day that's what happened to me. i couldn't find this ice pack.
so i went in to my local grocery store. they don't sell any of these ice packs. and i was like, what am i gonna do? and we cooked lots of food, and the party we were going to was like two hours away. and we had to have ice. but we couldn't use ice because it will melt and destroy all of our food. so what i did is grab a few sponges.
you can even get cheaper sponges. and fill it up with water. not too much. just soak it with water. just like that. after you soak it with water, what you're going to do is just seal it up. and then we're going to throw it inside of a freezer. so i just pulled it out from the freezer. and guess what? it's really really cold.
you can feel it. it's very very frozen. i could of probably froze it even longer. but, you see there's ice and water? so, you see the point of this icepack for your cooler, when it melts, all the water stays inside the ziplock bag. and that way, water doesn't ruin your food. and also it's very compact. it doesn't take too much space either. pretty awesome.
for this one we're going to use ziplock bag as a saver for your smart phone. let's say you're at the beach, at the pool, especially at the beach! there is sand. sand will get inside of these holes. little holes inside of it. if you dropped it, it will ruin your phone. plus! the ocean salt/salty water will ruin your phone as well.
so what you want to do is put it inside a ziplock bag like this. and get all the air out, and close it. now it's a sand proof and water proof phone. also, you could use it on very very rainy days too. and what's cool about it, the screen's still touchable and usable. you see we can still take pictures and stuff? still skip the songs. like the songs. dislike songs.
first we're gonna grab our ziplock bag. and put orange juice inside of our ziploc bag. before you close it, make sure you take out all the air from the bag. and then you just close it. then we're gonna put this orange juice bag in our bigger ziplock bag. just like that. in the middle. then we're gonna grab ice and put ice all around it. so what i'm trying to do is make slush
from orange juice. to make a tasty treat. but the ice is not cold enough right now to make orange juice slush right away. so it will take a really long time to make the orange juice slushy. so how can we make the ice colder? pretty much all we need is salt. pour a bunch of salt in there. so all we're gonna need is salt. guess what salt does?
salt lowers freezing point of ice. so the ice will melt and become a lot more colder. it will melt but at the same time it will get super colder. so we're gonna close the ziplock bag. and you want gloves for that. and then your gonna grab it and shake it around for 10 minutes. if the bag is too cold, and you don't have any gloves, you can just put it in a towel and shake it in a towel.
alright, guys, after 5 minutes of shaking this bag, look. a lot of ice has melted. but it's so cold inside. let's check out what happened to our ice. uh, i mean orange. you see, it's like slush. it's not even liquid no more. which is what we were trying to do. what we're now going to do is just, like, wipe off all the salt. with some kind of towel.
and then take out all this orange juice. grab a bowl. or like, you know, a very pretty bowl. and put all the slush, all the orange juice slush, in here. it's like, pretty much ice cream. but it's not ice cream. it's just like slush from orange juice. alright guys. and we're done!
